Conference topics

The conference will have thematic sessions on the following specific or emerging topics:

  • Fabrication strategies for metals, composite materials and multimaterials

Welding (fusion welding, friction stir welding) and joining for metals, composites, and multimaterials
Direct Energy Deposition : wire or powder fed metal additive manufacturing technologies (arc, laser beam, electron beam)
Powder Bed technologies for metal parts
Composite parts additive manufacturing, emerging techniques.

  • Processing, from modeling to final parts

Process modeling
Parts modeling and optimization, build parameters, repair parameters, net-shaped parts
Process automation & robotization
Post processing (e.g., heat treatment, densification, polishing, coating).

  • Training and Education

New training tools for welding in industry 4.0
Training programs and platforms in composites and additive manufacturing.

  • Non-Destructive Testing and Process Monitoring

Monitoring of manufacturing defects
Innovative non-destructive testing techniques for quality control
New algorithms for automated testing and inspection
Normative aspects.

  • Materials and Characterization

Feedstock material (powder, wire, strip for metal, resins, fibers and prepregs for composites)
Coupling microstructure measurements to thermal cycles, experimental stress analysis to characterize mechanical behaviour/materials properties targeting performance.
Performance (mechanical behaviour, materials properties, and/or functional) feedback to fabrication.
